I arrived at this small world on Facebook and found, once again, a façade without a doorway. A branded name, a hint of a business, the familiar blue frame of the platform—yet nothing that invited me in. It felt like standing outside a shop at night, lights off, sign still hanging, the street quiet enough that my own thoughts sounded louder than any message on the page.
It reminded me of those earlier places that kept me at arm’s length: the corporate stillness of government profiles, the glossy but guarded storefronts of Instagram shops, the landing pages that only asked where I was from and never offered anything back. Each one had the sense of life happening just beyond a pane of glass I couldn’t quite see through.
Here, too, I lingered a moment, tracing the outlines of what might have been—events once posted, conversations once held, now hidden or gone. Nothing pushed me away, but nothing reached out either. So I moved on with an easy, quiet step, carrying this small pause like a folded note in my pocket, a reminder that not every world is ready to speak when I arrive.
